Diabetes mellitus, or sugar disease, is emerging as a rapidly increasing health problem worldwide in humans and animals. Factors such as obesity, changes in lifestyle, and changes in eating habits are causing diabetes to become widespread, and numerous scientific studies are being conducted on the risk factors, early diagnosis, mechanisms of formation, and treatment of this disease. Diabetes, a chronic disease, attracts the attention of the scientific world due to both its leading to other health problems and its high treatment costs. The effects of diabetes that occur during pregnancy on maternal and infant health are of separate importance.
A new study aims to pathologically examine the effects of excessive sugar consumption during pregnancy and lactation on mothers and offspring. This study, conducted especially on healthy female rats, aims to determine the long-term effects of sugar consumption on offspring.
The results of this important research will help us better understand the relationship between diabetes and diet and develop strategies related to the prevention of gestational diabetes. In addition, a better understanding of the harms of excessive sugar consumption during pregnancy and lactation periods can contribute to future mothers developing healthier eating habits."
Sugar Consumption in the Womb Increases Diabetes Risk in Offspring
This study revealed that excessive sugar consumption by mothers during pregnancy and lactation increases the risk of diabetes in offspring. The research results show that the formation of diabetes can go back to the mother's pregnancy period. These findings add the mother's eating habits to the risk factors of the disease. It is emphasized that the mother's nutrition is of great importance in preventing the formation of diabetes at an early age.
Sugary Pregnancy: Adverse Effects on Mother and Offspring
The study emphasizes that dietary habits change in humans and animals during pregnancy and that there is a need for more nutrition than normal. Sedentary life and over-nutrition play an important role in the personal formation of diabetes. It is stated that diabetes can develop in mothers during pregnancy in humans and although blood sugar usually returns to normal levels after birth, this situation can lead to chronic diseases in mothers and susceptibility to various metabolic diseases in babies in their later lives. It is stated that the mother's nutritional mistakes during pregnancy in humans can increase the susceptibility to some diseases throughout the baby's life. The research experimentally reveals that daily excessive sugar intake in healthy pregnancies creates adverse effects on both the mother and the offspring. Therefore, it is emphasized that expectant mothers should pay attention to their sugar consumption during pregnancy and lactation periods."
