Resveratrol and Kidney Damage: Timing and Dosage Are of Critical Importance

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) draws attention as a serious health issue affecting approximately 10% of the world's population. In Turkey, especially end-stage renal failure patients benefit from treatment methods such as dialysis and kidney transplantation. However, experts emphasize the importance of dietary regulation in this process and are also seeking new methods to halt the progression of this disease and reduce its effects. One of the studies conducted on this subject evaluates the role of a natural compound called resveratrol in preventing kidney damage.

Known for its antioxidant effect and anti-inflammatory properties, resveratrol is seen as a promising option, especially in the treatment of CKD. The study evaluates the effect of resveratrol use on adenine-induced kidney damage. While the results reveal the potential of this compound to slow down CKD and provide some positive effects, they also show that it may be limited in completely reversing advanced damage such as connective tissue formation. Experts emphasize that future studies, in light of these findings, should focus on investigating at which stage and in what doses resveratrol might be more effective.
